Our story

Farsight Books was founded on a conviction: that an independent author's work — and their message — has real value, and that value shouldn't be decided by a gatekeeper at a big-box publishing company.

We were farsighted enough to see it. So we built an avenue for indie authors to publish and promote their books on their own terms, without waiting for someone else to grant them permission. Over the years that's meant our own family's fiction and non-fiction alongside the work of other independent authors we've been glad to champion.

We publish across a wide range — dark fantasy and heroic adventure, faith and Christian living, preparedness and practical how-to. What ties it together isn't a single genre. It's the belief that the right book, in the right hands, matters.

The name

A farsight is a spyglass — the instrument you raise to spot what others miss on the horizon. That's the idea behind our name: the vision to recognize a worthwhile book and a worthwhile author before anyone else does. Our brass telescope is the mark you'll find on a Farsight book.

What we do now

Today, Farsight publishes books from our family and the authors we've championed — and we help other independent authors get their work seen. We no longer offer full publishing services, but we do offer the marketing pieces that help a good book find its readers: promotional mockups, book trailers, social-media content, blog posts, and more. What we value

  • The author's value. We believe indie authors deserve to be seen and taken seriously.
  • Range. Room for many genres and many voices under one trustworthy imprint.
  • Honesty. We tell you plainly what a book is, where it is in its journey, and how to get it.
